Fukushima One Year Later

March 6, 2012 - The March 2011 earthquake in Japan has had a significant impact not only on cities in the Tohoku region but also on the state of domestic nuclear energy generation. The government and public responses to the Fukushima disaster have brought the safety of nuclear energy into the spotlight.

Now at the one-year anniversary of the March 11 earthquake, NBR invited Daniel Aldrich (Purdue
University) to discuss the ongoing recovery efforts and the greater implications of the crisis for Japan's nuclear future.

Read the full interview for a discussion of the following questions:
. How have anti-nuclear movements been affected
by the Tohoku earthquake and its aftermath?
. What impact has the catastrophe at the
Fukushima nuclear power plant had on Japan's political, social, and energy policies?
. How has civic engagement played a key role in
community-recovery efforts in the affected areas?
