Speaker: John Hemmings, WSD-Handa Fellow, CSIS (Hawaii) ((formerly Senior Fellows Co-ordinator / Research Analyst, Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies (London)

Comment: "Conditions for Successful Stabilisation - Assessing Japan's and South Korea's Assistance to Afghanistan"
Chiyuki Aoi, Professor of International Politics, SIPEC, Aoyama Gakuin University (Tokyo)

The speaker and commentator will discuss Korea's and Japan's approaches to stabilisation in Afghanistan.
Specific questions to be addressed include:
- What's the difference between the ROK approach and Japanese approach, bearing in mind the different mission styles?
- What's the difference between ROK/Japanese approach and Western style? What can the West learn from the East?
