[SSJ: 6916] Call for research on Popular Culture and 3.11
From: David H. Slater
Date: 2011/10/23
As a special session of the Japan Fieldwork Workshop at Sophia University, we are putting together a small and informal panel on the subject of cultural responses to and representations of March 11, 2011 .
Our goal would be take stock of this material and our various approaches to it.
'Popular culture' can include film, documentary, high art, performance, TV as well as anime and manga -- all are fine.
The only restriction is that they should be post-311 focused. So please, not just Godzilla or Ponyo.
Presentations and discussion can be in English or Japanese.
Depending on participants' availability, ideally it would be held on a weekend in December or January, but with no funding available, it is designed for scholars already in Japan.
If you are interested, please contact us with a short description of your research and your dates of availability.
(Please feel free to re-post this notice to any you think might be interested.) Thanks,
David Slater
