In reply to David Leheny's question about AKB48 electoral rules in the last general election on June 9th, I think this is best summarized by "president" Maeda Atsuko's response to a reporter's question. She was asked what is her "manifesto" or policy positions now that she has been returned to power. She replied by asking the reporter, "What is a manifesto?"
