[SSJ: 6493] SSJJ Volume 14 Issue 1 is now online!

From: Tom Blackwood
Date: 2011/01/13

Dear Colleagues,

I am happy to announce that the new issue of Social Science Japan Journal (SSJJ) is now available online at http://ssjj.oxfordjournals.org/ ; hard copies should reach subscribers shortly. Due to SSJJ's recent change in publication schedule to January/July, this issue follows closely on the heels of Issue13:2, which came out in December 2010.

I have appended the Table of Contents of the articles below. As always, Issue 14:1 also has an extensive book review section, including several review essays and a number of reviews of Japanese-language monographs.

PDF files of individual articles are available to users at universities or registered domains with online subscription access (in some cases, you may need to check with your university's library about authorization procedures for accessing online journals).

Finally, in order to introduce SSJJ to a wider audience, Oxford University Press has made the following articles (from 13:1, Summer
2010) available for FREE for a limited time:

Social Exclusion and Earlier Disadvantages: An Empirical Study of Poverty and Social Exclusion in Japan, by Aya K. ABE
Japan as a Stratified Society: With a Focus on Class Identification, by Sawako SHIRAHASE
Liberal Preferences and Conservative Policies: The Puzzling Size of Japan's Welfare State, by Shogo TAKEGAWA

These articles can be downloaded for free from OUP's website ( http://ssjj.oxfordjournals.org/content/13/1.toc ) until the end of February, 2011.

Without further ado, here are the contents of issue
14.1:
