[SSJ: 341] readings on working for J cos

I have an engineering student working as an intern for a Japanese-based company.
He is working in their very successful U.S. operation. After 3 months he is
starting to make observations about "glass ceilings" and how the real authority
goes through Japanese nationals, no matter what the org. chart looks like. Based
on my experience, this is a common observation of non-Japanese nationals working
for Japanese companies.

What shall I give him to read on these subjects? I'm looking for something
relatively specific and focused on the issue of multinational companies, rather
than grand explanations of Japanese practises. Articles are fine, as well as
books. I have let him down by not preparing him for this experience, and I'm
sure the situation will recur with future interns and graduates.

Thanks for any suggestions.
