THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY
RESEARCH SCHOOL OF PACIFIC AND ASIAN STUDIES DIVISION OF POLITICS AND
INTERNATIONAL
RELATIONS

DEPARTMENT OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

RESEARCH FELLOW/FELLOW/SENIOR FELLOW

Applications are invited for an appointment in international relations from candidates with expertise in the international relations or international political economy of Northeast or Southeast Asia.

In the case of an appointment at Research Fellow level, the Department will also consider applications from scholars with interests in international relations theory (including gender issues) who have actual or prospective research projects on Northeast or Southeast Asia.

This is primarily a research position; however, the successful applicant will teach a one-semester seminar each year in the Department's Master of Arts in International Relations program and will be expected to supervise Masters and PhD students.

The appointee will have a PhD in Political Science or equivalent, and a strong publication record.

The Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies, which has 115 full- time researchers, is one of the world's leading research centres on the Asia-Pacific region. The Department of International Relations is one of four political science units within the School. It works closely with the other units: the Department of Political and Social Change; the Peace Research Centre; and the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre.

Terms of Appointment:

Research Fellow for three years initially, with the possibility of extension to a maximum of five years;

Fellow or Senior Fellow will be for a renewable fixed-term of 5 years initially.
Renewal will be subject to a review of performance and will take into account the research priorities of the School and Department at the time.
