Mr. Agee's suggestion that the Japanese are able to save more than Americans b/c they live at home longer makes a lot of sense. I'm wondering if Japanese are also forced to save more b/c credit cards are not as widespread here as they are in the US, and most transactions are done in cash. In the US, almost anyone can get a credit card, and having a credit card encourages people to spend beyond their means. Here, it would seem that you need to actually have enough money to pay for what you buy, which is an incentive to save.....? (Tiana Norgren)
