[SSJ: 57] On Japanese Savings

If you manage a video rental store in Virginia for, say, $32,000 a year, how much would that same job pay in Japan? If I charge $30-35 / hour to do technical and business writing in DC, how much could I charge in Tokyo or Yokohama? What about someone who makes $5 / hour doing basic restaurant work in Baltimore?
Where do such people live in Japan? We hear a lot about Japanese prices in this country, but not much about incomes.
Where can we look for such information? This would be a helpful part of the discussion!
