*Outline*
The concept of soft power has been around for more than two decades.
However, most of the research and literature has focused on cultural aspects of soft power directed to general public. Research on Japanese soft power in Singapore brings new insight on Japanese soft power with specific emphasis on interstate relations.

*Speaker*
Shumpei Watanabe is a Dual Degree candidate of Master in Public Policy in Graduate School of Public Policy at the University of Tokyo and Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at National University of Singapore. He is also active in cultural exchange activities between two countries and the chief organizer of the LKYSPP
2012 Japan Trip funded by Japan Foundation and Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
