Alex Brideau and Paul Sracic will discuss the current state of the Republican presidential primary, its implications for the general election in November and possible consequences for US policy towards Japan and Asia.


*Speakers *

*Alex Brideau *is a Tokyo-based analyst at Eurasia Group, specializing in political risk issues in countries of the former Soviet Union. He also analyzes US politics and their impact on the global investment environment.
Alex received an MA in international affairs from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs, and a BS in foreign service from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service.
Prior to joining Eurasia Group, Alex worked as a reporter for Energy Intelligence Group in Washington, DC, and for Pasha Publications in Arlington, Virginia, as an associate editor of Navy News & Undersea Technology.


*Paul Sracic *is Professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science at Youngstown State University in Ohio. He is a former Fulbright Lecturer in Japan, teaching at The University of Tokyo and at Sophia University.
Professor Sracic holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in Political Science from Rutgers University, and an A.B. in Political Science and Economics from Albright College.
His most recent book, San Antonio v. Rodriguez and the Pursuit of Equal Education was part of a series that was given the Scribes Award for legal scholarship at the 2008 meeting of the American Bar Association.
Professor Sracic's next book, Youngstown Sheet and Tube v.
Sawyer: Labor, War, and the Presidency, is forthcoming from the University Press of Kansas. He often serves as a political commentator for the U.S.
media. He is a frequent guest on international, national, and regional television and radio shows, including CNN and National Public Radio (NPR) and writes opinion columns for US and foreign newspapers (for more info please visit http://web.ysu.edu/gen/class/Dr._Paul_A._Sracic_Chair_m
