*Outline*

Corporations are using the technological tools and messaging of the era to better define and deliver their own narrative stories, as marketing-communications increasingly enters
journalistic terrain. These
developments are displacing traditional media while making space at the table for citizen journalists.

Japan's No.2 automaker, Nissan, launched its Global Media Center in Yokohama in April 2011 (http://www.nissan-global.com/EN/index.html k.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r=1013842329&msgid=1672174
&act=3O1N&c=397830&destination=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nissan-
global.com%2FEN%2Findex.html>).
It is now producing multi-media content for its on-line and social media platforms. Nissan editor-in-chief Dan Sloan will explain how the carmaker and other firms are joining the news conversation and the potential implications for traditional media and Public Relations.

*Speaker*

Dan is a former Reuters senior business correspondent and past president of the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan. He authored of "Playing to Wiin:
