* Presentation of the symposium:

In 2011 we are still facing the consequences of the crisis that hit the world in 2008. On top of that, the great earthquake of 2011 hit the east coast of Japan followed by devastating tsunami. The prospects for growth are hardly certain. In this context, it is an ideal time to think again about our economic systems and their potential outcomes. The aim of this policy-oriented symposium is to propose an analysis of what could be the engines and "models" of growth in the future. A key challenge is of course to invent a new relationship between finance and the real economy.
Beyond this, we would do well to have a renewed perspective on "classical" engines such as globalization, innovation and domestic demand. It is also important to revisit the role of the government and its interactions with the private sector.

   In considering this ambitious purpose, we believe that this symposium will offer a unique opportunity to gather highest officials from central banks and governments as well as world-known professors from Japan and France to discuss these issues.
