UNU-ISP INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME


The United Nations University encourages applications
for internships at its Institute for Sustainability and
Peace (UNU-ISP) in Tokyo, Japan.

Internships at UNU-ISP provide unique opportunities for
individuals to gain valuable experience of
interdisciplinary academic work within the United
Nations system. Interns develop new skills and
knowledge through engagement in a range of academic and
organizational tasks, actively contributing to UNU-ISP
research and capacity development activities.

Internships at UNU-ISP last at least two months, with a
maximum duration of six months. Interns must be
available at least three days per week.

Interns are recruited through a competitive application
process. Applications are considered several times a
year, with the current application period ending on
Wednesday, 21 September 2011.


Eligibility
The following are key requirements for applicants to
the UNU-ISP internship programme:
. A keen interest in the pressing global issues
on the UN agenda, and in particular those of
sustainability, development, and peace.
. A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a
discipline related to one or more of UNU-ISP's thematic
areas:*
o Peace, Security and Human Rights
o Global Environmental Change and Sustainability
o International Cooperation and Development
. Fluency in written and spoken English is
required; ability in other languages is an advantage
. Practical work experience (particularly in an
international environment) is valued
. For non-Japanese nationals, an appropriate visa
is required.

* Final year undergraduate students may be considered,
if they are highly motivated and have a strong academic
background.
