[SSJ: 6826] Re: Noda - the right person at the right time?

As an occasional watcher of Japanese politics I am just wondering if Noda is exactly the right person at the right time?

Calls for raising the consumption tax, if played correctly, may not be such a vote loser election and could take some of the wind out of the sails of the opposition charges of economic incompetence.

Added to this with such a low public profile (and I assume low expectations) it could be argued that the only way is up

Maybe the machinations of intra-DPJ politics and divided nature of the Diet will prove too much for anyone to manage but I have a sneaking feeling that this could actually turn out to be a surprisingly good choice for the DPJ.

Best wishes
