We are pleased to invite you to the next GRIPS Forum at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies on November 29.

What are the challenges that companies should address to empower women? Ms.
Iwata will speak on concrete measures and positive actions by companies that can cultivate and promote women, help women balance careers and child rearing, and enable employees to find work-life balance. She will give examples of such actions taken at Shiseido.
She will also talk about the challenges that the government should address.

Speakers' Profile:
Ms. Iwata graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1971. She served as Director of the Policy Planning Division at the Women's Bureau, Director of the International Labour Affairs Division of the Minister's Secretariat, Director-General of Equal Employment at the Children and Families Bureau, and she has held other positions in the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, Tokyo. In 2003 she joined Shiseido Co., Ltd., Tokyo and was in charge of Corporate Social Responsibility, Personnel and Consumer Information. In
2008 she was appointed Executive Vice President, Representative Director.

Since its establishment in 1997, the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), as the only graduate school in Japan specializing in policy research, has promoted education and research on a wide range of policy issues. Utilizing our vast policy network, this Forum invites leaders from various fields including government, academia and business, as well as staff from our own faculty, to deliver lectures on current policy concerns. The Forum welcomes attendance of GRIPS faculty and students as well as participants from outside the university. Simultaneous interpretation will be available (Japanese/English).
